I believe that so much of what our lives consist of begin with the decisions that we make. When you make that decision to exercise more, to stop smoking, to have better relationships, what ever the decision is about will effect how your life flows.
Like you, I’ve made decisions and not followed through on them, so being dedicated and committed to the goal of the decision is paramount. I found that if I’m consistent with my thoughts and desires about a decision and keep the goal uppermost in my mind I achieve
them. It is when I get sidetracked and focus on something else that I go astray.
The process that ultimately leads to success in a goal looks like this:
- Choose a goal
- Make a serious decision to follow it to completion
- Write down the steps to achieve it (allowing flexibility for obstacles & changes)
- Keep the goal and the next step you need to perform uppermost in your mind
- Keep your eye on the ultimate goal until you have achieved what you set out to do
It always looks so easy on paper, doesn’t it? In reality, when you stay focused the process makes you feel good. Feeling good during the steps is essential because you want to keep your energy up while pursuing the goal. I don’t know who said it, but if you feel like your work is your play it isn’t work…you’ve then found your lifelong occupation. Be happy in your work, achieving your goals gives you great energy to accomplish great things.
Now go make a decision to see a goal through to completion and enjoy!
