Team Building Strategies with TRIP and Imagination
This is the second in a series of four on team building with TRIP. Remember, in my last blog I shared that it would be performed in reverse with “purpose” first and now we will implement the “imagination” section.
Imagination is probably the most fun of the character traits of TRIP. I love it because I can immerse myself in creativity and play! For the team leader, they get to select those team members who exhibit creative mastermind skills with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. For the team members they will get to explore areas like:
· Innovation (one of my personal favorites)
· How to differentiate with new ideas and approaches
· Collaboration and communication of information
· Lastly, critical thinking
There are a lot of ways to tackle imagination and even more on how to integrate the four processes named above. It must start with imagination on any project. How can we design something different, capturing it with excitement so that the team sees the purpose with clarity?
After the team takes the TRIP Technique Assessment ™ the team leader can select the team members according to their scores on the imagination section. This should ensure that collaboration and communication will go hand in hand with the creativity needed for a successful completion of the project. Utilization of expertise combined with continued feedback will build trust, clarity of each individual’s role and loyalty to each other. To create that environment there is no end to the exercises will help, just Google these for more information:
· Blind Retriever
· Perfect Square
· Team Lunch
· Pair Up
Each of these uses tricks that will help with communication, collaboration, imagination, public speaking, and strengthening of relationships. A real time benefit of these exercises is speed. The speed that your team learns to work together will increase the speed that it creates and implements, shortening the time to the project completion. Remember to celebrate the small successes along the way, recognizing those who stood out with their work and ideas.
I hope this segment on imagination has helped you see your way to a better stronger team that will love working together.
Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.
