Our Brain is So Cool!
Ever notice how your mind goes into overdrive when you have a car problem? What’s wrong with it? How much will it cost? How long will I be without my vehicle? Where should I take it to get it fixed? The more you think about it the worse it gets, right?
When you look at your mind during this exercise, you see that it’s your imagination that’s racing in high gear. It can be so creative in the assumptions and reasons for what is to come and how awful it will be.
Imagine how successful you could be if you could harness this “imaginative state” to produce high quality ideas, processes, and proposed outcomes…wow, you could be the next Elon Musk! At lease that’s how I imagine his mind works with all the high-level projects he’s got going on all the time.
That is why I have a white board that is always full of ideas that I think will advance my business further toward the goals I have for myself. I never take it down, but I often do erase thoughts that are fading with excitement and energy and add new ones that are mulling around in my brain.
In my TRIP Technique keynotes I love the section on imagination. It’s where I get to play with my audience and assign them a task to come up with a new idea and flesh it out. Then I pick a table and see what they’ve come up with, we brainstorm together as a room of creatives who want to join in the fun and see where it goes.
The old saying used to be that we only use 10% of our brains capacity…is that still true? Here’s a link to an article that says it’s false: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321060#other-brain-myths
Their studies have shown that most of the brain is active most of the time, even when we sleep. To draw this to a sweet conclusion, this means that we are thinking all the time. Ready to receive and produce ideas that might stir us to action.
This article moves into what foods make your brain healthy and those that lead to problems over time. And into fun facts about the brain that you probably don’t know…take a moment and read it I think you’ll find it interesting.
Anyway, you look at it our imagination is a wonderful tool to bring an idea to life mentally and then in reality. Try to exercise yours regularly and have fun! This is great for leadership, sales and public relations.
Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime!
In the end, it’s just one man’s opinion, mine!
