Hi, this is Keith Renninson “The Tenacity Expert”
professional speaker & author of the award-winning book “Tenacity, You Don’t Have to Get Lost in Nepal to Find Yourself, But it Helps!”. I’m here with my next installment of my TRIP Tips for the financial services professional. Remember that TRIP is an acronym for TENACITY, RESILIENCE, IMAGINATION, AND PURPOSE.
So lets’ get started!
Welcome to the first installment about Imagination!
This is the fun segment where you get to relive those childlike qualities of yesteryear. Imagination has so many levels of practice and we will cover them in the next ten weeks.
Part of the joy of life is having fun with your abilities, so learn to exercise your fun muscle! You've probably noticed that I often refer to these character traits as muscles. Maybe it's because I've exercised much of my life for bike racing, skiing, mountain climbing and doing those activities puts you more in-tune with your body. Being that connected with my physical nature makes it easy to integrate these mental tips with bodily characteristics. Besides, I love the endorphins you get from exercising!
Imagination should be a place of intensely enjoyable exploration of thought and ideas.
You should be able to giggle and be dazzled by your mind and what it can do alone or with others. Don't let your inner seriousness rule, let the experimentation of thinking outside the proverbial box be paramount.
I’ve shared with you how when I got lost in the Himalayas of Nepal I journaled and meditated a lot to control my fears and mental chaos. It’s also where I used my imagination to plan what I was going to do differently when I got home. I let my mind wander, to look at memories of things I didn’t want to repeat and future possibilities that were exciting to me. Meditating and imagination go hand in hand when you let them, and it can be quite productive or relaxing, your choice. Sit quietly, take three deep breaths to calm your mind and see what happens. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Well, that’s it for this installment, I hope you have some new ideas on how to proceed. Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.
See you next time, and in the meantime, meditate and let your imagination run free like a child!
Goodbye!
Keith......
