TRIP TIP #29 “Always Seek the Adventure!”
When people ask why I wrote my book "Tenacity" I tell them that I planned my time in Nepal because I was lost in life and needed a TRIP to find myself. I had hit a mid-career and mid-life crisis. I wanted to illustrate that from time to time we all get lost; we all have to work to find our true selves. We must be adventurous, filled with tenacity, resilience, imagination and purpose to expand and grow.
In the last video, #28, I spoke about taking time off as a recovery period and that was part of my excursion into the Himalayas. It helps you mentally and physically to be prepared to assist your clients through their tough times.
In your practice, make even the mundane adventurous. Mentally change your middle name to “adventure and imagination” and you'll never be bored. Using adventure to spice up your interviews will make them more fulfilling and interesting, and your clients will appreciate it.
Financial planning is like going to the dentist for many people.
They find the process uncomfortable, fearful and painful. They have to share intimate details about their financial and personal lives in a way that they have never done before plus, often it’s with of a stranger.
Gain their confidence by setting up your plan visually like a map of a vacation and its many excursions and they will be able to understand it better and feel more comfortable. There are four types of clients: the analytical, the amiable, the expressive and the driver. They all require a different approach and that’s where the adventure comes in and you can use it to your advantage.
Well, that’s it for this installment, I hope you have some new ideas on how to proceed.
Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.
See you next time, and in the meantime, find the adventure in every aspect of your practice for more fulfillment, freedom and fun!
Goodbye!
Keith......
