Please, Can I Have Another?
Knee replacement that is! Yup, eight weeks after the first one I added a new scar to my collection. At the beginning, I wasn’t quite sure that this was a good idea, but this morning, day five post-surgery, I can already feel the difference. Of course, I’ve still got six physical therapy sessions to go before I start to get range of motion back, but the grinding, popping, and arthritic pain is gone!
I knew this back-to-back surgery was going to test my TRIP skills and the past four days were the hardest by far, but I can feel the resilience, re-igniting, and resurfacing. I used my tenacity to fight thru the pain, imagination to figure out how to function on 1 ½ legs in the kitchen and bathroom, and my purpose was screaming at me today…get the blog done!
Do you use affirmations? Well, I have one that I repeat several times each day upon awakening, “I am a happy, confident, healthy man” and it had real meaning and substance this morning. The light at the end of the tunnel is visible, I will recover, and be back on my bike soon.
You can insert the TRIP philosophy into almost all areas of your life, it doesn’t have to be just at work, like:
· Going to the gym when your little voice says I’m tired.
· Enduring a traffic jam with a positive podcast
· Using your imagination and being creative when planning an anniversary gift
· Overcoming procrastination with enthusiasm and excitement
I fully understand that there are many folks with far more difficult situations than mine who are dealing with disability and pain, and I hope that they find their way to this blog for encouragement. TRIP is such a useful tool in challenging times.
I gave my keynote to the Colorado Society of Association Executives in Vail, Colorado a couple of weeks ago, and then connected with some of the attendees on LinkedIn. It was so gratifying to hear that they were using my TRIP Technique™ after the conference and seeing results.
Programs like mine only work if you put in the time and effort to learn about it and apply it to your everyday lives.

Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime!
In the end, it’s just one man’s opinion…mine!
