Hi, this is Keith Renninson “The Tenacity Expert” professional speaker & author of the award-winning book “Tenacity, You Don’t Have to Get Lost in Nepal to Find Yourself, But it Helps!”. I’m here with the next installment of my TRIP Tips for the financial services professional. Remember that TRIP
is an acronym for TENACITY, RESILIENCE, IMAGINATION, AND PURPOSE.
So, let’s get started!
Being confident is always a good thing. And trusting it in the face of difficulty it’s never easy, but it can give others confidence...it's contagious and feels good. Trusting in your ability to be resilient is a key component to confidence. Just knowing that you have what it takes to come back to success is not enough. If you aren't resilient, you'll never find out where that success lies.
Trust that you will be able to turn things around. Trust that you have a good team who are willing to follow you, even if the team is you and your Golden Retriever.
I’m not kidding, for many years I had a Border Collie named Hamilton, that I found after returning from Viet Nam. Hamilton could tell when I was down and he would snuggle up with me, put his chin on my leg and look up at me with those big brown eyes saying, "It's going to be okay, I'm here!" During the time that I was a probationary agent, and even later, it was hard to find confidence while learning a whole new business with New York Life, new products, and complicated sales techniques.
When I could finally afford an assistant, I had a real team, albeit a small one, and we worked together coming up with ideas and implementing them. But it all started with my confidence and giving her assurance that we would grow and be successful.
So, I would work on my confidence every day with positive self-talk, a gratitude journal, and affirmations.
You can do it too, find your own confidence tools and just be yourself. Your clients will sense it and want to work with you.
Well, that’s it for this installment, I hope you have some new ideas on how to proceed.
Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.
See you next time, and in the meantime be confident and resilient!
Keith......
