TRIP TIP #18 “Brainstorm with gusto!”
Hi, this is Keith Renninson “The Tenacity Expert”
professional speaker & author of the award-winning book “Tenacity, You Don’t Have to Get Lost in Nepal to Find Yourself, But it Helps!”. I’m here with my next installment of my TRIP Tips for the financial services professional. Remember that TRIP is an acronym for TENACITY, RESILIENCE, IMAGINATION, AND PURPOSE.
So lets get started!
In the last TRIP Tip on masterminds, I shared how my group helped with problem issues and clients. They were also a wonderful source for a brainstorming session. Doing this helped bring excitement and fun to the challenge. Bouncing back with the creativity that brainstorming can bring to the situation can be exhilarating. This can be a daily or weekly activity, but it needs to happen regularly so that everyone involved is constantly included and encouraged and kept up to date.
Ask yourself and your group three questions
to spark your resilience and imagination:
1. Am I still on target for the purpose of my client?
2. Is this the time for adjustments or stay the course?
3. Do I need to move to the alternatives we discussed?
If you are using the "idea white board"
that I shared with you a few Tips ago, post your ideas there. Have a pizza lunch and a brainstorming session to look for pitfalls, generate new ideas, be playful and enthused over the process. Be open to new perspectives from other planners, your staff and even your client, and above all, do your research. Make this process an adventure, review the TRIP words and how you’re applying them to this situation.
Take the temperature of your client because it’s their risk tolerance that’s really in play here.
Communicate with them in a frank and honest manner that includes their feelings about the times you’re experiencing. Help them understand both tenacity and resilience and how they apply. Discuss with them the current options and come to an agreement of how to move forward.
Brainstorming with gusto with your team, fellow planners, and your clients is a fun and fulfilling process that will energize you. Have faith and trust in your abilities to make the right suggestions, to communicate them to your clients and implement them in a timely manner.
Be strong, you can do this! Well, that’s it for this installment, I hope you have some new ideas on how to proceed.
Remember to take a TRIP for a lifetime, not a trip of a lifetime.
See you next time, and in the meantime, be resilient, and use the bounce to your advantage with a new study group or mastermind!
Goodbye!
Keith......
